Saara-Sofia Sirén appointed new Managing Director of Tela
Saara-Sofia Sirén, MP, aged 39, has been appointed as the new managing director of TELA, the Finnish Pension Alliance. Sirén will start her new role on 1 May 2026, provided Parliament grants her resignation. That is when the current long-serving managing director of Tela, Suvi-Anne Siimes, will step down from the role. Sirén holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Philosophy.
The board of Tela decided on the appointment in a meeting on Thursday 22 January 2026.
“We’re extremely happy to appoint Saara-Sofia Sirén as new managing director. Her background and experience give her excellent credentials for leading Tela at a time when geopolitical tensions, Finland’s economy and general uncertainty challenge both the pension system and investment in many different ways. Sirén will be an MD who will build trust and collaboration both between stakeholders and within the pension sector,” says Carl Pettersson, chair of the board of Tela and CEO of the Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company.

If Parliament assents to my resignation, I can in my new role as MD of Tela continue my work to promote the sustainability of the welfare state and inter-generational justice. It’s a great honour to be able to work to strengthen the earnings-related pension system, and to keep trust in the Finnish pension system strong,” says Saara-Sofia Sirén, newly appointed as managing director of Tela.
